Dear Jerry, You were my dear and tender friend; always a smile when I visited and a deep curiosity as to how my life was going. So much humor, passion for life and all the questions there are to ask...you always made me smile and I will miss you so very much...I remember coming over to visit you and Sylvia with my flute, to just "hang" out and playing music for hours while Sylvia talked on the phone, or was cooking up something amazing in the kitchen, you were reading or just listening to the music. Cameron would pop in and out with her beautiful smile and passion.
Thank you for your friendship, you will continue to have a profound effect in my life and there will always be a special part of my heart saved just for you.
Love, Judy

Jerry was a great communicator. He loved people, family first, then friends, then everyone. Jerry and I frequently discussed the meaning of life and death. As a scientist he never waivered in his commitment to the rational mind. These intense discussions were always stimulating and often ended with us agreeing to disagree. On October 10th Jerry sent me a copy of an article that he said changed his life. I would like to share the following from the article. “ Happiness comes and goes and we know what makes us happy and if we can, we should do those things. There is no value in misery.”
Those of us who are still alive should take these words to heart and celebrate his wisdom. Jerry’s life taught us all the joy of friendship. Let us remember that true friends forever continue to live on in our memory.

I will always cherish the long relationship I have had with Jerry and Sylvia, and all the family. I've watch all of us grow older...known you since 1967 (I think) when we moved to Peoria. We had met Jerry in Lewisburg, Pa, when he was visiting Donna and Charles Pinter...and he went back to Bradley with Elias' resume for applying for a teaching position in the Civil Engineering department.
We shared so many of the ups and downs of the college political life together...and kept following each other on our various moves to other places.
Big discussions about the Arabs and the Israelis....and lots of just plain wonderful "Being Together."!!
I am grateful for his life, and also the life of each of you in this amazing family...and for the lovely times we have spent together.
My heart is with you...and I send all of my love to each of you.
